Colorado Locations

There are incredible options for locations to get married in Colorado from private venues on mountainsides, to stunning backpacking trails. Unsurprisingly, the views of the Rocky Mountains draw adventurous couples from all over the world!!

Like most popular destinations, many of the prettiest spots to elope in Colorado require permits and reservations in advance. But, there are still some popular sites that still let you drive up to a gorgeous view last minute.

A Note From Me

Colorado is full of amazing places to elope including iconic mountain ranges, national parks, epic backpacking destinations, and views that you can drive up to. You can find anywhere in the state’s gorgeous Rocky Mountains to have the adventure you’ve been dreaming up.

Colorado is stunning year-round, whether you want summer sunshine and glowing grassy fields, golden fall aspen trees or snowy mountain tops in the winter (wear your base layers).

Embracing all the spontaneous fun, being so carefree and full of laughter where you can express your love without inhibitions is Colorado!

All of this freedom can be a bit overwhelming though—That’s where I come in,

to help make the process of dreaming about your unique wedding day as simple and stress-free as possible.

I’m here for you every step of the way. I’ll help you choose a breathtaking location and advise you with permits and anything else I can:)

I can’t wait to get to know you two better and help you create an incredible elopement day!

Best Places To Elope

It would be nearly impossible to fit everything I know about elopement locations in Colorado into one guide.

So, I’m going to touch on some of my FAVORITE locations here:)

Telluride and Ouray

Telluride, with its breathtaking landscapes, charming town, and picturesque waterfalls, is an idyllic destination for couples seeking an unforgettable elopement experience.Telluride is nestled within the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado, boasting a landscape that blends rugged peaks, lush forests, pristine alpine meadows.

Ouray (pronounced “your-Ray) is located in what’s call a “box canyon” which means the town is surrounded by the tall jagged San Juan Mountains. Southwest Colorado -is called the Outdoor Recreation Capitol of the state because it’s an off-roading mecca & a hikers paradise with tons of mountain biking trails nearby. This whole area is loaded with water falls. hot springs, gorgeous scenic drives with trailheads that take you to breathtaking alpine lakes.

Twin Lakes and Independence Pass

Twin Lakes is a big beautiful pair of glacier carved alpine lakes, with awe inspiring mountains in the near distance to create glorious views. About 20 minutes south on highway 24 is the little town of Buena Vista, which is situated between the towering Collegiate Peaks and the flowing Arkansas river. So if you’re looking for things to do beyond the Lakes, white water rafting, mountain biking, and more hiking tails than you can count are just a short drive away!

Independence Pass is a high mountain pass in central Colorado. It is at elevation 12,095 ft on the Continental Divide in the Sawatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The pass is midway between Aspen and Twin Lakes, and usually is closed October-May, when available its one of the most fun hikes with breathtaking views!

Breckenridge and Sapphire Point

Breckenridge is home to a world-class ski resort, but summer is becoming more popular than ever in the mountains – and for good reason with hiking, mountain biking, and fun off-road trails making this a beautiful choice to elope.

Sapphire Point Overlook sits between Keystone and Breckenridge on Swan Mountain Road, at an elevation of 9,500 feet. The overlook offers a stunning view of Dillon Reservoir, hemmed in by the Gore and Tenmile mountain ranges.

Sapphire Point is a day-use area that can be reserved for two-hour blocks for private gatherings. This is a non-exclusive day-use area, able to accommodate up to 30 people for small events. Sapphire Point cost $120 plus an $10 reservation fee.

Rocky Mountain National Park

One of the most popular locations in Colorado is Rocky Mountain National Park. There are blue lakesides,

views of spectacular mountain peaks, and beautiful forest scenery.

Having a wedding ceremony at Rocky Mountain National Park does have its fair share of rules, including acquiring a $300 permit

and restrictions on what sites you can use to say your wedding vows.

Maroon Bells

Maroon Bells is one of the most photographed mountains in Colorado, these spectacular peaks dominate this setting. Hemmed in by Maroon Lake, aspen groves and evergreen forests, Maroon Bells Amphitheater is perfect for small weddings.

The amphitheater is available for use by the general public and can be reserved for private events. The maximum number of people allowed at the amphitheater is 50. Receptions are not allowed at this location, but can be held at the East Maroon Portal Picnic site, approximately a four mile drive.

Reservations are not accepted for Fridays and Saturdays in June, July and August; Reservations are not accepted for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in September and October. The Amphitheater can be rented most days of the week throughout the summer.

Reservations open one year in advance on a rolling basis for $200 per day.

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods is outside of Colorado Springs in the beautiful mountain village of Manitou Springs. If you’re looking for an awesome place to elope with views of sandstone formations, then a Garden of the Gods elopement may be just for you.

This elopement location is easily accessible, has Colorado mountain views, and it’s currently free to elope there!
